hey Ryan,

the 3b came with the plow, as I was looking for a plow at the time. the frame was not reinforced, but the plow frame had heavy plates sandwiching the frame at the rear mounting points. the front lift section was just bolted to the top of the bumper and frame. The jeep had the old hi-low monarch plow lift with a two way valve for left and right mount towards the grill that worked great for many years, and to the day I sold it. I do not own the jeep anymore so I am going by memory here. several photos included that may help you see setup.

That jeep is a lot better shape than my CJ3B. I took the kids with me when they were little to look at it and they got excited about it so I bought it. Worst deal I ever did - also didn't follow my own rules of "try to buy one that at least runs".

The 4 banger jeeps usually do very well with the Meyers 5' two way. I had on on my 3B for about 5 years before I sold the 3B and moved the plow to my CJ5.


This is the 3B I sold after removing the Meyers 2 way. No extra bracing was needed.


This is the CJ5 I moved the Meyers to getting fitted.


This is the chassis adapter box. The two verticle front arms bolt to the front frame rails just behind the bumper. The rear diagonal verticle bars bolt the front frame rails just behind the front crossmember.


This is the inertmediate frame that fits between the chassis adapter box and the plow.

Following up on this thread to see how those 6.50-16 STA super taxion tires are doing.

I hear they pick up a lot of rocks, but overall are good. Do they throw a lot of rocks? That is what I like about the NDCC tires on the M38 but I only drive it on nice days since the restoration.

This CJ3B is going to be a working vehicle.

I have the transmission/transfer and axles out for rebuild. So I am going to need tires soon.

Would post photos but right now we are out of storage space on the website.

Anyway the 6.50-16 tires are now $264 on Coker website!

I may buy a deestone for a spare at sub $150 if I go with 4 STA 6.50-16 tires.

Both NDT and NDCC's are not the best choice for use on paved surfaces. All my jeeps have had Goodyear mud & Snows and I only use the NDT and NDCC on my GPW and M38 for vehicle shows not daily paved road driving or snow plow work. You will notice Mud and snow highway tires on my orange 60 3B.

Goodyear and everyone quit making tires in 16 inch X 5.5 rim sizes. Maybe I should have looked for some 15 inch jeep rims. I already have the 16 inch rims powder coated a few years back.

The F150 Ford 15" pickup rims from the 80,s thru the 90's had the right offset and matching bolt pattern.

Week, no updates yet, I went on a bit of a sailboat hiatus, but recovered my Jeep budget and we are back at it. I am in the final paint stage with assembly just around the corner. Hope to have it driving by April!

I read your post reply on tires. From your post from Feb 2023 --

Radials do not fare well on a stock Willys m jeep without upgrading the steering from Ross to a modern GM unit.

Could you expand on this?

I have a 52 M-38 and a 48 2A Lefty. Both were very original when I bought them. I have since taken them down to their frames and rebuilt them. I also have a 47 2A/MB Wannabe. All have original or original style running gears. The 2A/MB does have an overdrive. None of these are hangar queens. We drive them.

I have several sets of tires mounted on rims making it easy to switch them up depending on the mission at hand. I agree the NDT/NDCC's dont do well on wet pavement, especially at higher speeds. In addition to the NDT's, I have a set of 4, Avalanche X-Treme, LT235/85/16 M+S.

My wife and I took the 2A/MB to the Colorado Fall Color tour in 20 & 21 and used the Avalanche's for those two trips. As you may know they are a mix of pavement and off road. We also took that same jeep on one of Trooper Tyrees convoys into the Black Hills with the newly installed OD. We used the Avalanche's on that trip as well. It was mostly highway. I did not notice any ill effects in handling. In fact I was rather pleased with how they performed. We have since moved them over to the 48 Lefty for several trips to camp in the northern mountains of Pennsylvania.

I believe that old note was referring to their uncomfortable handling characteristics with antique manual steering boxes and linkages since they have an increased drag/rolling resistance and do not steer easily at low speeds when maneuvering in tight locations.
