The front bumper on my M38 is 46 inches long.
Is this a test? :D

Is your jeep 1952-53 or 1954 & up?

My bad. I keep thinking you have two jeeps. My M38 is 54" so I am thinking it may be off a Late M38A1.

The M38 ORD9 shows 2 part numbers for the bumper, but doesn't give the length:

G740-7372818
G758-8331831

Maybe this old post?

Correct. That's what caused me to ask for folks to pass on length's. I'd like to work that data into our databases eventually.

My 1955 M38A1 front bumper is 54".
When was the switch?

For what it's worth, the Kaiser Willys online catalog says the short bumper is correct for 52-53 M38A1s.

It would be interesting to find how how that reached that conclusion. Scott's old M38A1 data base does not support that and the army pubs do not support that. Based on available data the only way to determine when the switch was official is by reading the original Willys Factory frame blue print.
