GPMG mount details

Post by mcj115 »

My M38A1 has a GPMG mount installed with no weapon installed when I bought the jeep. I recently purchased a dummy replica M1919 to mount. I have it mounted as I think it should be mounted but am not totally sure it is correct.

Does anyone have experience with this mount? Specifically the one piece is that there is a fitting on the cross brace that I am not sure of the purpose. Is there a way to secure the weapon for travel?

I believe that I am using this 180deg out of rotation...it appears this should be used from the passenger seat with the windscreen down, but this also looks like it can be used from a standing position as it is pictured. Any advice, photos or experience are appreciated.

That one sure is unique. Have you looked for some period photos for mounting locations?

I just don't have any experience with these.

After thinking about it I have been able to figure out the puzzle! It looks like I have all the pieces and am able to set it in a transit position. Thanks for your feedback
