Turn Signals

As I am going to start rebuilding my wiring harness soon and wish to incorporate turn signals into the wiring system; any takes on which type would be more correct for a "moter pool" restoration. The solid state type currently used on MV's or the older early spartan type with the large flasher box that uses screw on connections. Although I have seen larger vehicles (2 1/2 tons etc.) with the early type that I know were service installed, I have never seen an M38 with a turn signal system that was installed by the military. Any feedback would be appreciated.

There are two green military kits for turn signals. The early kit had a big power supply. Neither were Sparton units. Some enterprising motor pool troop may have purchased a couple of Spartons locally and installed them on a couple of deuces but I would say that was a rarity. I installed turn signals a few months ago on my M38. It's safer and more visible than always sticking your arm out the side. I mounted the lights on the front edge of the fender and have interchangeable orange lens with the M series grill style.
But back to the wiring, I bought the big box style from a friend and so installed that style. It had instructions included, but I still took my time to understand how to do it right. As well as viewing other websites/links for the installation. All works well. The only "problem" is that the trailer receptacle does not have the input/wire for a right hand turn signal when using a 1/4 ton trailer. I would assume that maybe a M151A2 trailer recptacle does have one?...grant

I added four pictures of a m-series turn signal kit I bought years ago. They are in my gallery (Gary Keating) 1st page, last row , left. I figure this is the early version but not sure. No directions included in this kit I have but may have been at one time!? Has metal connectors for the wires included in the envelopes as well as rubber.
