Oberservations

Post by 2busy »

I was out in the shop today doing some compairing on the 2a and m38. I was looking at the pedal bracket on the frame rail. I read that it was supposed to be rivited instead of bolted. Mine was neither, it was welded. I didnt crawl under the m38 to compare.

Another difference is the shock hanger studs. The 2a uses a cotter pin instead of threaded for a nut to hold the shock on.

Another thing i was courious about is the engine the same in both? other than the fording components. I have a manual for the 2a but not the m38.

Most 2As have a frame that is very different from the M-38 frame. Late in 1948 the CJ2A frame changed to one that is more like the M-38, but still not exactly the same. What is the serial number of you CJ2A?

I will have to wait till i can have time to look at it. I know it isn't boxed in like the m38. I was just seeing how many differences i could see based on some of the comments i had read.

Pretty busy this weekend on other things.
