1952 Round Fender - update

A few weeks ago I wrote in a panic for information on what I was going to try to purchase. Well, I went ahead and bought it. At the time I needed fenders, better transmission and a radiator. You were helpful in letting me know the approximate interchangeability. I still don't know what I have. The title says 1952 with a generic description of the Jeep like Utility Vehicle. I changed the radiator and transmission to my 1956 CJ5. The body on the 1952 is structurally fair. The fenders turned out to be fiberglass (bummer) but they are better than the metal ones I have on the CJ5. i did get 2 metal fenders with the 1952 although they need patched. If I keep them I will have to wait until I get something besides a "stick" welder. The 1952 is structurally good compared to my '56 but I really need to move the body and chassis to someone's home. I hope to post it on eBay. If it doesn't move I may attempt to restore the body although it needs considerable work.

Any comments anyone would like to make on what they think the history is on this would be appreciated. So let me have it.

I hope to migrate into a military Jeep eventually so you all don't think ill of me for owning 2 civvies. This forum is most helpful for the era Jeeps I love.

Hello Bob,
The tub is M38A1. The flat dash add-on instrument plate is a home made unit.

Is there a plate on the front verticle surface of the right rear wheel house?

No, there is no plates anywhere that I can find on the body. Do you think the frame, tub, hood and grill are M38A1? I was hoping the dash was military. Do you mean the whole dash is an add on or just the instrument cluster (i.e. gauges, etc.)? Do you think any of this is worth my time or should I keep looking a better project? This body and tub is noticably stronger than my 1956.

It is a very basic start on a M38A1 project. There's a lot of missing stuff. That all adds up to money. The instrument cluster insert is the home made part. The frame appears to be a correct early M38A1 frame. If you decide to sell it let me know. I have a very very rusty one with all the parts and have been looking for a better frame & tub to start out with.

I am going to have to attempt to sell it. That is why the pictures. I was planning to list it on eBay soon. If you are interested I would like to talk to you about it. Where is the best place? here? phone? in person? I have much to say about it to a potential buyer and would try to work with any feasible plan. Let me know.
