Need Info on M38a1 Transfer Case

Did you damage the case? Unlike the tranny case everything is pretty
accessible that needs cleaning up on the D18 case.

Try the battery charger /soda trick to clean it or take it and have it
boiled at a machine shop before you toss it.

By the way, Mark Dodd at Rapco in Bowie may be just as handy as
Brent Mullins. Before I'd drive down I'd make a list of things you need
that are expensive to ship. Planning for the future you could save yourself
some bucks.
