I set an M38 tub 3 weeks ago. I just set the rubber pads on the frame. If they move, it is easy to lift the tub and shift them. I lift tubs with an engine hoist and ropes. Easy even for one person.
But gluing them on is not a bad idea.

Brings up a good point. We all should have a cherry picker (engine hoist) to play with pulling engines and installing engines and pulling bodies and installing bodies. They are a well spent $150 for the rest of your life. Over the years I have accumalated two cherry picker (bought one new and the other used). I have two chain hoists and 2 come-alongs as well as 5 engine stands. Amazing how this stuff piles up. I use the engine stands for heavy trannies as well.
