And don't rule out a rear mounted winch! They were used both in the rear bed mount and on the rear cross member mount.

I know this is a very old thread, but did anyone ever determine the vehicle or application for this odd PTO? Some pictures just surfaced on a couple FB Willys Groups looking of a very similar design.
