Here's a online source: http://www.taillightking.com/light_bulbs_Sockets.htm

Here's one type that will work
http://www.taillightking.com/images/31- ... 37-38Chevy)40-53ChevyTrk_12VoltConversion1.JPG
This one can be adapted by bending the two tabs straight and shorten them.

Or take the wire out of the BO fixture and substitute this piece.

There is not enough height in the stock receptacle for the autozone guts.

That Interlight socket SOCKET-L905-2 BA15D SOCKET looks like a two contact but the pin ears are the same height indicating it is a externally grounded single filament lamp socket. You will need an offset pin ear slot height to index the correct bright/dim dual filament lamp.

This is what you have to work with:

Brett fab'd up the o'reilly sockets by welding on the tabs, he made me upBretto wrote:I used sockets from Oreilly. Im running 12V so it was easy to find amber dual filament bulbs. I think RickG was able to round up some 24V ambers.
a set too (thx, bro). 24V dual filament lamps n/a in amber so i painted
them w/testor stained glass yellow spray. So far no evidence of the
paint peeling or fading due to heat etc.

The dual filament seems the way to go. I would think the truck shops would have this sort of thing as they are all 24V. Have to see if there is one around here. Lots of tractor shops too mind you so I will have to look there as well. I think casting copies of the diffusers in amber resin might be worth a shot as well.

well the lens would still be clear it would be the bit behind it that would be amber. then I can just use clear bulbs.
Going to need new seals for the markers though, the one is okay but the other one the seals are brittle.

I have been searching everywhere around her, been to the autosupply places, the tractor shops, the boat shops and nothing. I still have to find a truck shop but there do not seem to be any in the area. What a pain. Ah well.

24V dual filament clear lamp #1662
http://www.bulbtown.com/
here's my 1662 after a couple of shots of krylon
stained glass yellow(available @ any hobby shop
for about 4 bucks)

The 1662 24v will plug into any socket that accepts the 1157 12v lamp.
