Nice markings for the Cub.

You want to get the fitting (90) in the front hole of the left main oil gallery for the oil filter inlet hose before you put on the fuel pump. Good time to install the lower end of the hose as well.

Also with the engine out in the open like that is the better time to install the engine ground strap in that hole just below and inboard of the front generator mount bushing hole. Also a good time to get those hard rubber generator pivot mount bushings in both front and rear.

Thanks, I got the oil line installed late last night after I took the pic. and will do the same on the ground !!

Do you happen to have any photos of how the bracket is mounted ? I can't seem to find it in the org 9 ?

Also any thoughts on the color, OD or natural in guessing of the rear cushion that mounts with it ?

I believe most accessory mounting brackets on the block were OD.

There are dozens of photos in my albums that show the answers to your questions.

Shock color ?

Post by 1951m38 »

Is there a listing anywhere of what color all the various pieces and parts in an M38 are ? I searched the site and found a few references here and there, but not a "full " list Specifically the color of the shocks, I had assumed they were OD but then saw some references to they being black ? Also the fording cable clamp brackets. I think the one that mounts on the carb base Is natural, but what about the one that mounts on the firewall? A listing would sure be helpful.

Thanks. Tim

Water Pump Rebuild

Post by 1951m38 »

Setting up to reface the sealing surface on the water pump. I'm checking to make sure everything is "square". the lock the pump housing to the chuck and using a boring bar clean up the face. Now I just have to figure out how to polish it hopefully without removing the the new shaft/bearing assembly.
