Nice work! I live in a similar neighborhood, and I paint outside too. But I'm not breaking 27 laws like you probably are in California! 8O

I have a brass tumbler to prepare rifle and pistol cases for reloading and heard it does a great job cleaning and polishing batches of nuts and bolts. Always wanted to try it, but discovered too late for me. I did mine one at a time like you. They are pretty! :D

Thanks Ron. You're right about California. They should just add a sickle and hammer to the state flag.

I've been mixing my paint with xylene but I can't get it in California anymore. I'm hoping that I have enough left for my tub.

More progress this past weekend. I'm hoping to have my tires mounted on the rims by this coming weekend so I can roll the frame out of the garage.

I got my tires on this past weekend. Feels good to roll the frame out of the garage after two years up on jack stands. Tires are military surplus NDCC. They all had quite a bit of tan over spray on them. I spent many hours removing the paint. Had to finally call it good with some spots left on the tires. There are 3 Denman brand and one Cooper Cross Country. I have two more tires that I'll pick from for the spare. One Firestone and one Denman. I haven't made up my mind which yet.

I'm getting ready to install the cowl battery box. I figured i'd paint it first then deal with paint scratches later. I also have to attach the circuit breaker bracket.

Also started working on my tool box and hinges. I soaked the replacement hinges in Metal Prep over night then rinsed them with water to get the acid off. The metal prep stripped the zinc off and etched the metal for painting. They are primed and ready to be welded on the door.

Had another good weekend. Some friends came over and we got the driver side flood and hat channels in. Everything lines up nicely. I still have quite a bit of body work left. Filling holes some a-hole drilled all over the place, banging out dents, and using body filler in some places.

Paint

Post by ocwd »

I got 3 coats of paint on the bottom between Saturday and Monday. I'll let the paint cure for about a week then flip it over and start on the top and sides. I covered the gray primer with red primer before painting.

Vac Lines

Post by ocwd »

I ran my vac lines yesterday. I may have to adjust after I run my fuel line. I'm waiting for the s-clips to arrive.

Tub

Post by ocwd »

I got my tub, fenders, and grill painted last week. I'm hoping to start assembly this weekend. I ran out of paint and had to order more. Still need to paint all the seats, gas tank, top bows, and a few small parts.

The lights are all over the place. Those little rubber covers on the back are a different story.
