This is the horse stall at when I was done.its raining still.

Since it was raining, it was garage time. The D18 has been in pieces about a year.

The only thing I don’t have are a few new bolts. But I did have new lock washers.
I saw a YT video about the bolts with safety wire holes. Mine didn’t have that.

Spent a lot of time on backlash... it was at least an hour just on that.

Put new poppet ball and springs in.

Committed to next putting yokes on. Will tackle the t90 next. I only had first and reverse when I bought this Jeep.
Going on leave in a few days. Going to buy another rusty treasure (the m100) and work on the Jeep.

There are several tools both pro and amateur floating around for holding that pinion still during torqueing. My favorite is a huge Ford wrench I bought 40 years ago.
These are what I have right here in my photo album under the sub-album "Jeep Tools". The first 5 are examples of how our members quickly improvise, adapt and overcome!

This is a standard pipe wrench slightly similar to a large Ford wrench.

Here's the official jeep tool.

I went back thru my parts and I find this annoying. I’m not sure I put the right popper springs in the d18.
This is how they come to you.... not labeled which is which.

I couldn't agree more about vendors who won't, don't, or can't put a simple label on a part to identify it.
And how do you suppose they know what part they actually sent you? Because it was picked from a labeled bin? Like nobody ever put unlabeled stuff in the wrong bin before.
We enjoy many great vendors in this hobby, but this easily corrected shortfall always baffles me. I have many words to describe it, but won't...
Don't get me started about vendors not being willing or able to identify who made it and where it was made.....
Btw, thanks for the pointer on the pinion holding tool.

Went thru a bunch of parts buckets in the garage today... saw I had all the pieces for the dash panel. Not sure how I will do the rivets, butwill do a search,

Looks like a mess, but I know what is going on here.

Exactly a year ago, I put the transfer case and transmission in the garage. It’s time I get to building it.

Needed to disassemble it.

Don’t like what I see here inside the T90 case.

The washers were pitted as if something got loose.
I spent a lot of time today standing here,

I put the drive shafts and brake/clutch pedal arm system into the parts washer solution for overnight.
I may drag my blast cabinet out tomorrow.

Thanks!
I ended up falling asleep pretty quick after updating my post- didn't do the search before you did. Was sitting there on the couch and sometimes the snoring of three sleeping schnauzers puts me out quicker than anything.
Merry Christmas all!

Now I’ve put the windshield and rear glass on my 63 F100 by myself before but wouldn’t it be a surprise that the Salty Jeep wa harder?!

Used a lot of masking tape to help get the gasket on, so I could locate and cut to length.
Got the glass in.

Don’t know if this has been shared- here is ho I did it.

Did t have the special tool for the locking gasket, tried using some plastic trim tools... I will buy the tool tonight. My hands aren’t as strong as they were once.
Gave up at diner time when the neighbor down the street started thumping music, dogs barking, creates stress for me and my dogs so I went inside.
It was 65* today.

Until next time... prop shafts and the clutch/brake pedal assembly are in the parts washer.

i meant to go to HF and get me a 8" dial indicator today, but the weather was too nice so I spent the whole day in the yard after the house chores.
I finished the windshield installation. Buy the lisle tool.. better yet- pay someone else to do this. my fingers are sore now.

Weather was too nice and I have been wanting to put this one on for a while.

Put a glove lox lock on.

set up my redneck wind chime for some primer

called it a night!

Went back inside as it was starting to get cold again. I had to redo- the chores I already did cause like pigpen... three dogs will make a mess of toys, leaves, dirt all over the place.
Tomorrow I am driving up to go get the M100. I am doing the tow dolly thing like suggested on the post in the trailers section. Wish me luck!
