For what it's worth... Here's the scoop on the NAPA 80-90w gear oil from the tech department at Valvoline (800-354-8957) as they told me today...

"NAPA High Performance 80-90w Gear Oil GL-3/GL-4/GL-5 (NAPA part number 75-210) which we [Valvoline] make does not contain active sulfates and is perfectly safe for your yellow metal gears. I wish we could get the word out there about this..."

The guy was really cool and spent about 15 minutes on the phone with me explaining things.

Was at NAPA today,they had 90 wt mineral gear oil,recommended for gear boxes,transmissions whera non EP gear lube is specified. What would be the better choice,that or 50 wt motor oil?
