Primer ?
I'm at the early stages of refurbishing my axles, and am going to be blasting them some time within the next week. What do you guys suggest for primer base ? Was looking at the rustoleum self etching spray or clean metal primer, but wasn't sure if that's needed since there blasted, would a regular primer work just as well ? All the rust will be gone since blasting. Looked at the epoxy primer, and that's unfortunately out of my budget, and no one local carries it. Any brands you suggest ? Will be top coating with a gloss black, so it will be sealed.

I am currently working on an M-38A1 and most all of the small parts and such have been primed with Rustoleum Auto primer in Red Oxide. It holds well to sandblasted parts and is cheap, readily available and lasts a long time.
I have some Epoxy Primer that I will be using on the body, but that is due to it will need to be sprayed with a gun to get the proper coverage... that is some time down the road.
I did my axles with the spray cans and worked well... I did mask the areas where I did not want primer, but that is normal.
Hope this helps...
