Voltage Regulator Frame Bracket

My voltage regulator bracket and battery tray were cut off by the previous owner who also converted to 12 volt. I am starting the restoration process piece by piece I am adding back. I ordered a regulator bracket since my shop metal work supplies are currently limited. It looks like nice quality but I am unsure of the fit. I have researched pictures of the frame and brackets and it is inconclusive to me whether there should be such a rake. The pictures are usually of limited perspective and I can't tell. Here are some pictures of the bracket in place. Thank you for your feedback on whether it fits correctly.

You really should load a permanent signature element to your profile IE:

Yes it has a very slight uphill tilt forward.

You are holding your new support bracket about 2" too far forward. I would first locate the new battery tray and it's support legs before planting the regulator support

An alternative for a correct stock M38 battery tray would be a CJ3A battery tray that is shortened so the forward battery box will fit correctly under the hood. Also a Brazilian member had a friend fabricate a new one for him that turned out quite well.

There have been a few posts on this topic over the years and I have provided measurement photos several times from my old photo account but that account died about 7 years ago and I need to reload them in my Mjeeps album.

I will be very surprised if you can't find a photo to help you index your regulator support correctly in my Voltage Regulator Support Album:

In fact where I'm holding it is the exact spot I just ground off the remainder of the old bracket. Someone cut it off with a torch.

For the battery bracket. I used a CJ-2 battery mount. it is low like the M38. Just barely high enough to clear the top of the shock absorber. I only had to grind off two rivets that attached a small piece at the rear that was there to stop the battery from sliding back. The M38 battery box to CJ-2A bracket is perfect!

I appreciate the information about the 2A battery tray. I have access, and I'll probably buy it, and M38 frame that still has it. I take it off and reinstall on mine. Then I need to find someone that needs a frame!

The perspective of your photo would tell more if taken straight down from above like the sample photo I provided to accurately assess spacing.

Thanks. I just needed to upload it. My worry is that the bracket I received slopes too greatly to the rear. I have the tub off (never been on since I purchased it) and I do see that the regulator (I have old style) needs to clear air cleaner. So I perceive the downward tilt to be appropriate but to what degree is my concern. I purchased the part from overseas.

I left you a link in my previous photo post for my photo album where I have several photos that make it very clear how much tilt there is. You should take a look.

I think you may need to add some length to the rear leg on that bracket. Will have to look at mine tonight.

My top illustration in post #2 shows the rear leg is 3/4" tall.

This should help with getting the bracket to the correct height above the frame rail

I am at that distance Wes. Thanks for all of the helpful pictures. I took a couple of pictures with the splashguard in place last night and will post pics soon.
