Lyle,
If your vehicle wasn’t already converted there are several people selling the conversion harness for the 60 amp alternator on the M38/A1.

Lyle, You do not need any specialty harness. The elimination of the DC regulator is a simple chop job and the alternator only requires 2 wires (4 or 6 GA for main line power from alternator to the starter terminal replacing wire #4 & and I prefer an additional wire 4 or 6 GA to ensure a good ground between the alternator & the engine. A 16 GA wire runs to the main ignition switch's # 12 wire. You then replace the amp meter with a voltmeter and run the existing #9 wire to the main ignition switch's #12 wire. (this insures the volt meter is only powered when the ignition switch is on.) As an extra precaution you can use the existing #8 wire to ground the new voltage gauge to the dash.
