This is a test run to see if I can upload, (download a picture). Bare with me. [image][/image] I have a '48 M38/CJ2 depending on who you ask. It was I'm assuming a fording jeep. The battery that was in it was a 12-volt. Above is a picture of the sparkplugs (new) and the distributor. How do I attach the cables to the sparkplugs? I do not have the old plugs. Do I need to replace the distributor completely or get a different set of plugs. Thanks.

I can see your pictures no problem! It looks like you have an M38 style distributor but someone has plugged the ventilation ports and then painted the cover that copper color. If you go to page 11 of the "M38 Underwater Ventilating System" document here on the site, you can get a good view of the two lines that tie into the sides of the distributor body:

As for your spark plugs, if you want to run traditional style 12 volt spark plugs with the 24 volt style waterproof wires and distributor, there are adapters available from various sources online for that:

What makes you think your 1948 jeep is an M38 which were built 1950-52?

From your one photo it appears you have an F-head engine, which Willys did not start using until the '50's which rules out your jeep is a 1948 nor an M38.

Actually the top photo also reveals the engine as a F134 since you can see the carb mounting base.

A couple of photos showing the front frame rails clearly and the dash will make it quite clear what year make jeep he has.

Hi everyone, has anybody used this spark plug adapter? Specifically, the one sold by John at Midwest Military or the one from Kaiser Willys? Is it really worth using, and can I expect good results with it?
I would appreciate your opinions or suggestions!

I have been involved in Willys M jeeps with the waterproof ignition systems since the 1970's. Considering the HP ratings and weight of these jeeps I have never had any performance issues with this system. Yes their individual parts like the plugs and cables are a bit more expensive then conventional civvy plugs and wires but yes they also last 6 to 10 years longer then their civvy components. I stayed ahead of the higher costs by visiting as many auto shows and MV events as I could to secure useable quantities of these parts at more reasonable prices. If you find you prefer to not pay the additional cost for waterproof ignition parts then why pay an exorbitant price for a plug adapter when for the same price of 4 plug adaptors you could probably find a used civvy 4 cylinder L or F134 distributor with wires and plugs and use it. From that point on your ignition parts will be 50% cheaper then your old GI ignition set.
