M38 frontal axle socket

Post by Roberto67 »

Hi, fellows!

A friend of mine has recently bought a left socket for the fronta axle of his M38 Willys jeep. The metric of the thread is 19". Code of this spare part is WOA847.

Now begin the problem...he needs that the socket would be "oriented to the right", as the redline of the pic. And the metric should be 17". Are there a spare part for this? Any code?

Many thanks for any info!

That is the correct left hand rod end for the passenger side tie rod assembly and they only come in left hand thread. If your friend needs a right hand threaded one to match the threaded tub he has on that side then he has the wrong tube and /or tie rod end on the passenger side of the jeep. The outer tie rod ends are left hand thread to driver's side and right thread to passenger's side. Inboard rod ends are right thread to driver's side and left thread to passenger side. Also that part number is for the CJ2A and CJ3A.

Here's the M38 parts list drawing:
