Rifle Holder

Post by reddog »

Does any one know if the Canadian M38's had rifle holders installed or the holder brackets?

my M38CDN originally had the rifle holder for the Enfield, but all that remains are the brackets, due to an upright mount installed w/ a rubber buttplate on the floor and a clamp on the windshield base for an FN rifle...HTH...Wilf Alexander

So Wilf your saying the CDN's had a different rifle mount to fit the Enfield Rifles? One that that went vertically instead of across the window?

rifle mount

Post by captw »

uh, nope!...what I meant was that my jeep originally had the horizontal scabbard mounted to the w/s frame, evidenced by the remaining brackets, but no scabbard...at a later date while still in CF service, it had a vertical mount for an FN C1 rifle installed, consisting of a clamp mounted to the w/s frame, and a rubber butt plate affixed to the floor, which is still there...I am toying with the idea of getting a scabbard type mount and acquiring a Long Branch Enfield(CDN made in Toronto), or finding an FN...W

Hey Herbie, oops sorry I mean Wilfie. :P I may know where there is an FN but it will need to be welded up. I have some Enfield's but I need 8 for the C15TA and consequently I am looking for 2 more.
Cheers,
Barry
