Ramsey winch dimensions

I have a chance to pick up a Ramsey PTO winch for my M38A1CDN3. While it is, unfortunately not a model50R, it is very close to the 50R dimension. According to a diagram on this site, the 50R is 18-1/4 wide. The one I am being offered is 19-1/4 wide.

I already have one of the model 200 winches at home, but am not able to measure it as I am currently overseas (Kandahar). Could someone give me the overall width of a model 200 winch? I believe it is a bit wider yet than the one I am being offered. I would hate buying a second of the same winch.

Thanks for the measurements Gian. I sent the seller an email and will go through with the deal. It includes a military issue Ramsey PTO, one of the shafts with the mil issue slim u-joints, and the floor lock for the shift bracket. I will now have a spare TX200R winch to sell off when I get home, along with a spare mil issue 105 Ramsey PTO, a Ramsey PT1 PTO, and the Ramsey shafts for the Willys.

The winch you'd bought from Tobermory [Tom] is the same model as you're selling [or within a model-similer] -not a ,military winch .... fairlead [civilian]and mount are home made ...... The shifting unit is the right one...... if this is the same ones [by the sounds of it] seems like an OK fella [ps- Thanks for representing us overseas !!!]

We've machined the spools on ramseys, holmes and rhino winches of the same exact build to narrow the overall dimensions...... The 8000's civi model are STRONG customers as well.....

It is similar to the TX200, but with a few important differences. It is only 19" wide, so it will fit into a military repro frame a lot better than the 22" wide TX200. It also has the handle on the front. It may be out of a tow truck or possibly one of the rear mounted Willys winches. It will save me the effort of having to cut down the TX200.

To me, just finding the one shaft and the floor lock-out were almost worth the price. Once the PTO is sold off, I think I'll be happy with the final cost.

I have had several of the proper military setups over the years. With the power of the internet these days, the prices are getting astronomical on these things. It wasn't that many years ago I had trouble selling the mil issue PTOs for more than a couple hundred $$.

I hear you about them being strong winches. I was respooling my cable on my first military Ramsey setup, and the tension wouldn't let me slide the lever on the winch. By the time I got to the drivers seat to put the clutch in, it had snapped the cable without even stalling the engine.
