Contents of tool box.

Post by Rick57_ca »

Greetings all, I am having a little trouble finding out exactly what was in the toolbox on an 53 M38A1 jeep. I would like to know the list of tools and any canvas involved in having the proper inventory in the jeep. ie: correct jack and handle? wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers? fire extinguisher, driver log or manual? Cheers, Rick.

Unlike the WWII MB/GPW's the M38 and M38A1 series did not have the complete tool issue in the sock thing. The basic tool set with jack and manual was about it. The pioneer tools and spare parts were supplied in the field by supply. Some services didn't leave any of that in the jeep. Most Air Force units only installed the tools and spare when the user intended to operate the jeep off the base.

The ORD 7 SNL G-740 and the ORD 9 SNL G-758 lists the tools suppled with the jeep.

Hi Wes, thank you for the info, I looked in my ORD 9 SNL G-758, and could not find anything, what page? Thanks again, Rick.
