Post by hillbilly21 »

STARTS FINE NO PROBLEMS..GO UP THE ROAD , WITH A LOAD ON ENGINE , STARTS SPITTING & FARTING LIKE ITS NOT GETTING GAS..I PULL THE CHOKE OUT 1/4 AND IT RUNS LIKE A TOP..!!!!!

I DID NOT HAVE THIS CARB REBUILT OR EXCHANGE IT WITH JOHN AT MIDWEST ...I LEFT IT ALONE WHILE I DID THIS RESTORATION AS IT RAN FINE ..NOS FUEL VAC PUMP , RELINED ORIGINAL TANK , ALL NEW VENT AND FUEL LINES..!!!

TIME TO EDUCATE ME ON IT..???? WHAT DO I NEED TO DO ?? :)

hillbilly, Is the tank vent clear of obstruction? also, have you checked for good fuel flow before the carb?
they're have been reports of some re-lining their gas tank that seem to fail and accumulate debris in the carb.

Vent is clear as pick-up is NOS..I blew with air hose in & out of it..

Flow is solid pipe , pulled fuel/vac looked for any signs of debris -NOTHING

I also thought the new reline would have something to do with it but it is still in tact..

I removed line to carb ..turned it over sprayed gas into cheese cloth clean as a bell !!

Will it run smoothly at 50 MPH when on level ground and not accelerating?

the need for choke is your getting to much air......vacuum leak ? have you checked around the base of the carb. also, make sure all the fuel line connections are tight.

I had the same problem and realized I forgot to tighten a clamp on a hose connection before the (Elect) fuel pump....,

6 hours of scratching and all I needed was a screwdriver.

For it turned out to be the simplest and obvious .

Take a look at your diaphragms for the metering rod and the accelerator pump.

Check the centrifugal advance in the distributor.

Check each spark plug lead for leakage (shorts to ground)
