M38a1 Fuel tank in an M38

Post by Scott21 »

I have a nice a1 NOS tank but need a 38 tank. It has never been used, If i cut and close the bottom of the tank is the neck angle correct? Is it worth doing? I am using an outboard motor tank now. Throwing this out here before i order a repop.

flat fender vs round fender filler neck angles are way different. Flat fender points straight outboard and up. Round fender points outboard angled back about 20 degrees and up.

You NOS A1 tank is worth about 1/2 as much as a NOS M38 tank. So you would do much better to cash in the the A1 yank's value and get enough to buy a repop M38 or 1/2 the price of a NOS M38 tank.
