No Fire, Coil or Points?

Maybe someone can help me out. Jeep was running great until I can to an abrupt stop by hitting a tree. Everything seems to be fine was not going that fast. Just a jolt to everything and now I'm not getting fire, I don't know how to check the coil, points seem to be ok, but no way to really tell on them either. Does anyone have a method for determining where my no fire problem is coming from. Condenser, points, coil?

TM 9-8012 Page 73 Par 78B Engine turns but will not start. You will probably move right to sub-par 78B (6) and then to Par 81. Follow each step and you will find your problem. Try to avoid the slam bang shotgun approach to troubleshooting where you solicit suggestions and hop all around the engine trying these different things. Avoid throwing parts at your problem until you have troubleshot it in an orderly manner and determined a part is really needed. Take notes and write your observations down. You will be surprised how easy it is to forget what you did an hour ago. You will learn a lot more about your jeep the easy way by following the manuals troubleshooting chart step by step.

After you LOG IN to this site, click on "Downloads" at the top of the page. Then click on the section "M38 M38A1 M170 M606", the TM's (Technical Manual) are found there - you can search the pages on-line or download to your computer. Also on the top of the page you will see the "Search" function - click on that and a search window will open up where you can type in search terms and find a ton of information in past posts.

You should have the basic set of service and parts manual for your jeep on your work bench whenever having troubles or making repairs. They are free to download in PDF format from this web site.

Thanks I joined when I bought the jeeps but haven't done much work to them, but now I'm ready to start restoring them. Thanks for the tips and explanations. This should make everything much easier.
