Very odd switch in an M38

Post by wesk »

This switch is in an m38 that is owned by a member in Nepal. Can anyone tell me what system it supported?

Perhaps something out of an aircraft? Maybe
to run a non-issue radio set?I wouldn't think a
jeep would require methanol injection.

What was the 20 Amp breaker for? My guess is that the overided bypassed the circuit breaker. Unless you're talking about the cigarette lighter. It's used to light cigarettes.

That is the question I asked. The plug, the red guarded switch and the box hanging under the instrument cluster were there before he bough the jeep. Does anyone know what system added to an M38A1 would have used those three components.

MX-777 Electrical Transient Suppressor

Not sure what it does, keeps starter/generator from frying radio?

The box is a suppressor electrical Transient MX-7777 B/GRC it was used on mostly tracked Vec's with 100 amp and 200 amp systems like the M113 and M577 time line 60s-90s Most of the time with VRC 12 radios I have also seen them with the AN/GRC 106 radios.

What is the late ww2 light switch used for? It has a face plate I have not seen before.

Looks like it is being used as a 5 position selector switch. 4-3-OFF-1-2
