M38 wiring
The outside layer of insulation on all the wiring on my M38 is cracked & flaking off leaving a under layer of thiner material over the inter copper wire....this jeep came with the fording kit & a complete waterproof wiring harness runs about $800...the harness for some of the other model jeeps run in the $300 to $350 range....am trying to keep cost down a bit ...is there any other harness that will interchange or any other way to repair this harness ??...thanks for any help....Kent

If you rebuild the harness yourself you will quickly realize that the $800 is a reasonable price.
And you can rebuild it yourself. Connector parts, and wire are readily available. The original harness is assembled with crimped pins and the crimper is available at most MV dealers. Or if you wish you can just solder the wire into the pins. You can buy surplus black military spec wire from the roll at Saturn Surplus. You can pick up new connector parts from the MV dealers or on ebay.If done correctly you will have easily spent over 40 hours with it.
