need help with some numbers
hello I just purchased a m38a1, md49830 body tag only. I was told that it is a 1953. The dash id plate is gone. I need input from others that have numbers below and above mine so that I will have the information to get new plates made. thanks

Check the downloads section. Unfortunately, not enough people take the time to fill out the survey and return it to Wes for him to keep it updated, so there are alot of gaps in the data.

MD49830 is a May 1953 unit and the contract number is DA-33-019-ORD-630.
Your data plate set would look like this if the jeep was issued to the Army:

There's no way of guessing why, where and how those plates on the dash vanished without talking to the owner who had it when they vanished.
You have two choices if you want to sort out the dash plates.
1-Go back through the prior owners and see if they can find them.
2-Buy replacements and have the new lower right serial plate you get stamped with the serial to match the tub's patent plate.
