M 38 blackout wireing

Post by henrydes »

I need the wireing that goes from the main wireing harness into the back of the blackout light that is mounted on the fender. Can any body help, I especially need the rubber seal (?) that goes in the hole.

That wire is part of the front lighting harness coming from the light switch through the square plate in the firewall, along the left inner fender and up to the grill behind the left headlight. If you have this harness and not the the wire for the BO driving lamp then someone has cut it off or folded it back and taped it inside the forward lighting harness.

Open up the harness and look for wire #19.

These two wires can be easily fabricated from some standard 14 or 16 gauge black wire. The grommet is carried by some vendors but can often be found in hardware stores as well.

Most of the popular vendors carry these parts.
Midwest Military, Rapco, Army Jeep Parts
Memphis Equipment
to name a few.

Thanks for the info...What I am looking for is the type of cable used and the grommet marked N on the print. I have called a few of the companys listed but they dont carry them. Has anybody had any luck finding the harness or cable and grommet.

Call John at Midwest Military he has the wire and I believe the grommet. Otherwise scan the trays at the hardware store for the grommet. The cable issued on the ORD part number came from dozens of different vendors and had many different appearances the only common of them was the color, Black.
