Front Axle Inner seals

Post by bl5211a »

Hello:

Does any one have any tips on installing the inner front axle seals. They are down the tube near pumpkin.

I have the dana front axle apart for 1955 M170 (Spicer 25/27 type).

I have the old inner seals removed, but scratching my head on best way to install new.
Thanks,
Brian

Kaiser used a W-128 seal installer. It was a threaded two piece expanding type that would push both seals into place by using a open end wrench to turn the tool center which tightened the shaft and pushed outward in both directions. A small hydraulic porta-power and a standard bushing/seal driver kit will do the job. Or the cave man method of appropriate size socket and heavy hand drilling hammer.
