Ok, beat me up, but I have looked every where and can find no where anything on what this plug is for. I'm talking about plug on dist cap on M38a1 24 volt, its right above coil. Circled in red in this pic. Thanks, Bruce

Thanks G740, I couldn't think of any reason why it was there, and couldn't seem to find in any of the manuals I have or on here that talked about it. Thanks again!!!! Bruce
As usual with the very specialized nature of the older Army Tech Pubs the info is found in manuals and sheets specific to the test equipment. But not to worry all you need for visuals are in my photo album along with several hundred other technical photos.
Thanks guys, Just I had started my jeep up yesterday, during this long winter wait , and as it was running in the garage, I had the hood open looking over motor to make sure of no problems, and I noticed that plug was loose. I had removed it during restoring the cap last summer, so I tightened it up but it got me to wondering why it was there. And now I know what its for and now know what those test kits I see for sale on E-bay are for now. Thanks guys it's always great to ask questions here knowing with in a short time I will get an answer. Now if I just could get an answer, when this winter will end, so I can have more fun with my jeep............LOL!! Bruce
Does anybody know If one can pick up the small one that attaches to the primary lead from the distributor (the small one) separately? That is the one I am missing in my kit. How much do they go for?
The only kit piece I have seen offered separately is the timing light to spark plug adapter. These kits were reasonable at one time in the $25 to #45 range but the last 10 years has seen their prices triple.
