Does anyone have any pics of the M38A1
install of the military radio support brackets? The ones that attach to the mounting plate that holds the transceiver and power pack?

You will need to be more specific with your needs. There are several hundred signal corp drawings that address various radio system mountings in the various vehicles.
VRQ-1, -2, or -3, VRC-1 thru -46, GRC -1 thru 12 and on and on. Also rear mount or side mount and using which mounting plate IE MT-297, MT-298, MT-299.
The installation drawings will list system as the key not the individual radio and power supply model numbers.

It's an RT 68 transceiver with the power unit, on a MT 299/GR mounting plate, with the support brackets. I am mounting it on the driver side rear wheel well.

Also try googling VRC-10 manuals. There are many available out there and they are quite cheap and will help detail the proper installation and layout of your components.

I couldn't find sufficient instructions online, but I found a TM-11-286 manual for $4! $8.50 with shipping.

These illustrations and drawings in my photo album that xamon listed for you above were not adequate instructions for your install? These are the same drawings the motor pool guys in the Army used.

and the albums for the mount wood supports drawings:
http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... _album.php
and the album for the MT-299:
http://www.willysmjeeps.com/v2/modules. ... _album.php
With the above items covering the M38/M38A1 platforms and the TM 9-286 covering the VRC-8, 9, 10 systems you should have no problem installing the radio set.

My M38A1 has an VRC-10 mounted on a Mt-299 bolted directly to the fender. The pic shows it on the driver's side but I've moved it to the pass. side for better weight balance. My M38 has a VRC-7 and a PRC-10/VRC on hardwood blocks. The oak blocks were shaped to clear the jeeps fender ribs and footman loops and fit the radio mounts. Everything is held down with 1/4" bolts. I didn't follow any specific measurements or plans but used the materials and methods available to create the wood mounts.

The wood blocks allow for the width of the MT-299 which if not used causes the back of the radios to be right up against the edge of the tub and canvas top. The wood blocks are simple to make. Or you can order a set reasonably priced from our Member Rob. The 1/8" steel backup plates that go under the wheel house beneath each wood support can also be fabricated easily and I have the drawings for those as well.

You can check out my blog (address in my signature). I installed my vrc-8 a couple of months ago. Scroll down quite a few pages until you find it. I would put the link on here, but it's kind of hard to find it on a phone.
Edit: here's the link to my blog post about my VRC-8 install:
