Hat channels m38a1

Post by Hammerun »

So I finished installing new floors and hat channel floor supports in my jeep. I raise the body and roll the chassis under and drop the body on and walla, perfect fit. Except, the forward most strut on the new support forward the driver inline with the frame right beside, just left of the master cylinder on the frame. There was a clip like part ( 1.25" wide x 3.00" x 3/8 made of 20 gauge, spot welded to the bottom of the strut. Before I got wild and put a plasma cutter to it I thought it might be a good idea to find out just what it is. So after making a couple of calls. I talked to Jeff who fabs these things and I ask him what this thing is. He had no idea either stating it's on the prints so it goes on the part. Makes sense to me. He said if you find out what it is let me know.
To avoid confusion it's bent to create a 3.00x3/8" gape or slot between the top of the frame and bottom of the strut.

This is a perfect example of "A picture is worth a thousand words".

Looks like you will have to locate a PC and post a photo. I haven't been able to decipher your description and I don't think anyone else has been successful.

I cut that thing off and used it to patch a hole. It's better off where it went than where it was. Thanks
