Clutch rod length?
A previous owner had substituted his own "custom" adjustable connection for this rod in the clutch linkage of my M38A1. I want to put it back to original so I can properly adjust the clutch. Can anyone tell me the actual length of this rod or the correct distance between the two holes it connects? Thanks!

clutch rod
Several folks have noted they do not have a clutch rod with two 90 degree bends but a rod with two clevises instead, as I do.
I ran across this clutch rod replacement article in PS 43 a while back.
I intended to post about it then, but got caught up reading more of those things....

It seems the Army approved a change to a double clevis rod at some point to reduce breakage. For those doing a factory resto no go, but a motor pool is A-ok!

Hi Brian ! Thanks for the very helpful and interesting update. I ended up keeping the adjustable rig that came on my A1. Now, thanks to your research, I can even consider it a possible legitimate motor-pool mod.
