Trying to register my M38 in RI. New law says I need proof the previous owner actually owned it. Does anyone have a registation or title from a 52/53 M38 or similar jeep I can use to get mine registered?>???
Thanks

Rick,
Can you get the previous owner's reciept for resistration fees?
You might check out neihboring states laws regaurding registration.
some states only require a signed bill of sale. _________________ Ryan Miller

Previous owner never registered it. RI say without registration or title I'm screwed.... their words not mine.

Rick,
Find someone from another state that will registare it for you then take that in to get it done. You have to love NH you dont need to go through that. I just need a state trooper or inspections station to verify my vin number, and have a bill of sale. |

Basicly the same here in OK, take it and Bill of sale to tag agent, they verify VIN and you get plates and tags... |

I wonder if you might check into applying for a title as a "new" "homebuilt" vehicle, such as hot-rod builders do.
My cousin used to build fire breathing 427 AC Cobra replicas in RI, but they would register and title them as the Ford Pinto (or whatever) that they got the frame from, as I recall.
Yes, NH is Soooo much easier - especially if the Town Clerk knows you.

Thanks to all that responded. I have maybe 3 options open to me at this point. Seems the Rhode Island DMV only cares about sales between private individuals. If I get a dealer to write me a Bill of sale they don't need any other documentation.
Thanks
