Hello.. goofy question, Does anyone know if the exhaust pipes/ muffler would of been painted at factory or if they would of come out of factory in there natural steel tube state..

trying to do a factory resto, and some of my NOS parts are painted and some are cosmoline over steel. probably for long term storage.

my guess is they would not have been painted at factory?

Brian

My nos long extension pipe was painted. It burned off fast to a dull black. The original on it ws s rusty bare metal but It could have had green on it originally also. I painted mine with high temp ceramic aluminum to look like it was galvanized. It has held up well and looks like galvanized after 500 miles. I think od green would be the closest to factory but it will burn off rapidly.
