Engine color should be the same as the exterior body color.
Some appear to have a slightly lighter shade, but this could be due to heat/oil.
The Canadian M38 CDN had a light gray engine. _________________ Ryan Miller

If you will take a look on the photo gallery there are some members with M38CDN jeeps. I believe there are some photos of the engine there. |

2430 is the federal standard paint number used by Willys from 1945 thru 1968. That number will not help you at the paint store. The Army started using a darker and more brownish paint coded 24087 around 1953/55 so a lot of M38's and M38A1's got the brownish treatment in the late 50's thru the 60's by the Army.
If you look at Army Jeeps Part's Late WWII semi-gloss enamel you see a very close match to the old 2430. If you look at the Gillespie's Late WWII semi-gloss 23076 you'll see a very close match.
The M38 CDN's (built by Ford of Canada in 1952) were basically identicle to the Willys production except for the gray engine. The M38A1 CDN's have several batches built in Canada and one series built in USA but all were the same from both plants.
The last two color samples are AJPWWII (equivalent of 2430) (the next to last) and 24087 (Last)
