Langlade County and a number of local sponsors invite you to come to “A Journey Back in Military Time”. It is a time-line event open to military re-enactors from 1776 to the present with a strong emphasis on the WWII era. The event will be held at the Langlade County Fairgrounds in Antigo, Wisconsin on July 15, 16, and 17, 2005. It will be a full weekend of events for the Re-enactors and public alike. Starting on Friday afternoon at 5p.m., July 15, there will be a Military Swap Meet and Gun Show that will run through Sunday afternoon. The main events will be: Saturday with the Military encampments and demonstrations,A Military Vehicle Show, and in the afternoon, a WWII battle re-enactment; Saturday night, a Hangar dance with adult beverages available; Sunday morning Military Breakfast with the Re-enactors, afternoon, a USO show featuring local performers and presentation of Awards. Throughout the weekend the public will be invited to visit with the Re-enactors, sharing an authentic breakfast or supper with the actors if they would like. HOUSING WWII re-enactors have the option of being housed in a remodeled CCC barracks on a first come,(registered), basis and are encouraged to bring some tents to put up for the “camp look" outside the barracks. There will be one wing for US GI Re-enactors and another wing of the building for German units. GI's bring your cot and footlocker and set up your Barracks Display. WWI re-enactors, Civil War Troops and other re-enactors units will be in separate camps to give each group their own space for display and demonstration. There is Barn and stall space for those that want to bring Horses. A local motel is offering a room discount for those that want to stay off site. OTHER AREA FAMILY EVENTS The longest running Market Street Day in the State of Wisconsin will be running in the Antigo Downtown Business area on Saturday of this weekend, so bring your family.
