It could well be a real M38 recoiless mount windshield. No one has ever produced any kit or mod instructions with a parts list for a M38 equipped with a recoiless so we can't prove either way. The ORD # shown in one photo raises my curiosity but it's format is rather odd.

I don't think it's a modified M38 windshield. The wiper mounts on the lower edge are missing as is the vent panel. As you can see in the next photo of a real M38 windshield.

It may be a production DJ3A windshield modified for the recoiless installation.

Here is a photo of what looks like a bonafide field modification of an original M38 windshield. Note the different location of the slot and the added hinges.

M606?

*Edit*

After a quick internet search looks exactly like the one on the following link (fourth pic down) and qouted below.

"This archival photo shows a CJ3M with 106mm recoilless rifle, manufactured by VIASA in Zaragoza, Spain"

That Spanish Viasa built unit would not likely have US Army ORD part numbers on it. But it does look very similar. Perhaps we have a recoilless windshield for a M606 (military CJ3B)

close but if you look at the m606 windshield frame it does not have the vent. The frame on ebay is taller than a cj3b's
