I have read both $1987 and $2011 and some units actually stenciled the cost on the Willys to make the GI's take better care of them? I think the issue in determining the cost is that the Army procured hundreds of them along with spare parts, etc. So people took the entire contract value and divided by the number of Jeeps to come up with a price/cost - which is probably pretty close but not exact.
