There is a little welded bracket on the floor on the right side of the tank. The strap attaches to that. the short curved stiff piece goes on the outboard end and hooks to a loop on the inside of the tub. _________________ '52 Dodge M37, '42 GPW, '48 FrankenJeep CJ2A/M38, '50 CJV-35(U), '51 M38, '42 WC-57 Command Car, '44 WC-51 Weapons , (2) M1941 Sperry 60" Anti-Aircraft Searchlights, John Deere M-gator, '44 White M3A1 Scout Car
Right vs left. Always call out right or left as if you were sitting in the driver's seat. The right (Passenger side) end of the starp attachment is illustrated in TM 9-8012 page 166 figure 50. The left (Driver's side) is only illustrated in the ORD 9 on page 64 figure 03-6 in the side view.

Look close and you'll see that straight across from the center floor bracket that I marked is the bracket just below the doorsill.

I'm referring to the "right". I can't really discern from your pictures nor page 166 of the TM. Is it welded to the floor? If it's welded, then mine is gone.
It's gone. Midwest has them for MBs and one is on order. Apparently MBs attach with bolts. Don't know if I'll have it welded or use bolts. I don't plan on competing it so what difference does it make. Restoring it for my son - he won't care (or know).
