I have got hold of the Alternator but I can’t read the model number. I’ll need this numbest to know what I’m looking at! Please let me know if you recognize it.

Lyle, You do not need any specialty harness. The elimination of the DC regulator is a simple chop job and the alternator only requires 2 wires (4 or 6 GA for main line power from alternator to the starter terminal replacing wire #4 & and I prefer an additional wire 4 or 6 GA to ensure a good ground between the alternator & the engine. A 16 GA wire runs to the main ignition switch's # 12 wire. You then replace the amp meter with a voltmeter and run the existing #9 wire to the main ignition switch's #12 wire. (this insures the volt meter is only powered when the ignition switch is on.) As an extra precaution you can use the existing #8 wire to ground the new voltage gauge to the dash.
