Had two appointments today that ate up some of my day- so I didn't get much done.
I put the fenders/grill back on. The weather channel calls for rain overnight and tomorrow. So- I'd rather have my car cover back on it than nothing.
I went looking for the dowel bolts for the bell housing- after I learned I needed them. Didn't find them. This was all the hardware that was taken off of the bell housing, engine and transmission-left over stuff. Well- they weren't in there.
So I found a NOS set of them on ebay and I need to pick up some more 3/8 hardware. The tractor supply is my favorite place to get hardware but they do not carry any (barely any) fine thread.
Salty sits under the cover waiting for rain.
Also- set up the throw out bearing.
I really should inventory the reamining parts I have and figure out where I need to start my side quest next.
Also- to figure out what I am missing..... cause we all hate getting into something and making a trip to the hardware store or having to wait till the part is delivered... (and spend more on shipping than the part cost!) _________________ April

Most YT's show the before it goes in, then after- never the struggle to do it in real life. An all of us common folk do not have a two post lift and a gigantic sponsored shop. I have a dirt yard, plywood and HF tools.
Drop F150 for alignment and state inspection(my licensing state Oregon doesn't require it, but I do need it every two years for registration- being in VA they do it yearly. I use it to determine if they think something needs fixing. Though I am particular about my vehicles maintenance)
I will have time to hit the ACE for some fine thread bolts. I may even lift the cover off and do some misc. installs of stuff while the rain holds off. _________________ April

I went out to the garage and found this baggie of bolts left over from the engine builder.- explains the copper washer on the 5/16NF-7/8" engine backing plate question.
had the 6 bolts and copper washers in it.
this prompted me to do an inventory (picture) of all the things I have and what I am not sure of what it was cause the seller doesnt include a packing list or inventory part number on the item...... I would succeed in this profession but also go nuts if i was left to do it all...
Like- which is which?
What does this go to?
This is how my living room looked for three hours- I ordered a pizza via an app at 6pm and its 745 pm and not delivered still... now it says 915. what in tarnation!!!! (insert my real F bomb)- HILDA was not happy with me... It was interrupting her stories on YT.
I have a few items of the same thing for what ever reason- ordered from different vendors by accident?
Not much else is needed... just time and good weather.
Had I worked out side today I would have gotten less wet from the rain than I do from the produce isle of the grocery store! It didn't rain like the weather man said. If I went to my CO and said "hey Captain, this flux capacitor is broken; it will take a day to fix..." only to find out it was the widget from the Guinness bottle acting up---- I'd be fired in short order. _________________ April

The bottom boot is the one used on the clutch cable for fording. You should have a threaded insert for the bell housing this boot fits over and is clamped.
Your clutch cable goes in and is clamped on the other end to keep water out. That’s why there are two balls on the cable.
Not sure about the top one. Doesn’t look like the T90 boot I have. But has the flats for clamps. Was the A1 boot different?
The springs. It’s been so long since I had mine apart. Parking brake springs? _________________ Brian

Top boot is for the throttle pedal, bottom boot is for the clutch cable. _________________ Chuck W.

I ordered a pair of these hold downs and they look great.
you have to email Fil Bonica to purchase it. I mistakenly emailed Guy Loomis not knowing.
I purchased two uncoated hold downs. and they came with the little rubber pieces (to prevent a grounding of the battery cables).
I paid via paypal and the package was in my house within 4 days.

been raining off and on the last few days and I expect it to do that for the next few weeks. It is spring in Hampton Roads VA.
I decided to put up my new (3rd) canopy and get to work putting my Transmission and transfer case in the frame.
Pushed over the grass via a HF dolly and I had to lift the front end to get the set up under the frame rail. That was sketchy. I am on uneven ground now- after two years it settled.
used my Engine hoist to lift it up enough to put it on my transmission jack. The transmission jack is 2" taller than the dolly and since that was sketch- I decided on doing that in this fashion
It didn't take much to get it aligned.
I do not have all the bolts in it. I do have a few and the cross member bolts in place. I am waiting for the dowel bolts which will be here on Monday.
Next- maybe some fuel or brake lines. or the clutch brake system. _________________ April

Small tip for anything with wheels (engine hoists/transmission jacks) you have to move on dirt ,use a good piece of plywood makes moving and positioning easier. Only suggest doing so on Flat Ground No Slope. _________________ 61 M170 |

yup. grey all around.
I am going to go ahead and paint the rear wheels too.
Last night I fell asleep around 2030. I get terrible sleep every day so I go early, and maybe 15 minutes after being asleep- I heard the wind pick up. It wasn't supposed to be storming.
I saw what was happening, got up and outside to take the canopy tent inside and just as I shut the sliding door the wind whipped and I saw the trees twist as the wind spun in a circle. Rain went completely horizontal and the thunder cracked and lightning hit down the street.
We had tornado type activity here last night. It happens a few times a year, and nothing as bad as the mid west gets.
In all- everything is fine. It took an hour for that storm to roll north of my place.
Jeep stayed on the jackstands. I had the tires back on, and lug nuts tight, I just left it up on jacks last night before bed. _________________ April
