After 5 hours in front of this screen I've finally managed to upload the pictures of my 'new' ex French army M38 engine.

Actually it isn't an M38 engine but by, it looks like it.
For those that haven't yet got bored reading me the story goes like this;
The French after the war were broke but by the 50s had vast stocks of broken and goosed MBs and GPWs. They needed a modern jeep for the 1950s but didn't really have the money. So they simply built a 24volt MB and got rid of the known weak points, though why they kept that bloody awful from axle I don't know, well actually I do, it was to keep commonality with the MBs.
Now Pat Ware author of The M201 might not agree but I figure they simply updated the MB design by copying the M38 24 volt system, Pat I think suggests that the M201 system came from an earlier French project reffered to as the Delahey. See what you think.

The best part is; this was rebuilt, balanced and stored with NO EXPENSE SPARED by the French tax payer, I love you France.

And after an hour and a half of editing here I've finally got the rest of the pics to load, but I relise they are all from the same side! Bugger. So lets try again.





This photo shows where they they pull the air through into the PCV valve from the distributor.

Some years ago I was in Chris Moys yard in Tisselt in Belgium buying M35s and he had about 1/4 on an acre covered in thses engines in cradles, all of them and 100s if not 1000s of others went for export to the States.

Wes once sent me some pictures of block types, I think once production had started in the 50s they used the series 1 block which I think this is, but I'm no expert so please put me right on that if I'm wrong.
They also come with a clutch, and complete gasket set as the asbestos head gaskets have to be removed prior to sale. When they first came on the market they even came with two new batterys. Even the rubber tube and jubilee clip are lying on the cylinder head to connect the oil filler tube to the cross over.
