Does anyone have plans on how to build a diff spreader like the one shown below? I have some 1.5 x 0.5 inch bar stock I can use, and I can probably make something that will work, but wanted to see if someone had plans.

I've removed the carrier without a spreader many times. Just made sure the housing was warm and used a pry bar. Local fabrication would be quite simple. Just make an pair of angles or strap fasten to each side and provide any means of pushing them apart. A couple of simple machinist screw jacks will work. You're only spreading this a few .001's.

I used a propane heater/blower to heat the case up. I pried the gear out with out the heat ok with a large pry bar, but I had to put some heat on it when I was trying to get the bearing races to fall in place.
