I need to do some paper work on my recently acquired m170.
from the patent plate I have ...
serial #11425
in the lower right in very small print it says...
PHOTO REPRO REP DIV ALB GA
From what I have been able to find so far that would make this a 1954.
Does anyone have any thoughts?

Based on your list of serials you jeep would be a May or early Jun 54 unit. You won't get an answer any closer than that untill some more known M170 serials with known DOD's show up on the list. Total M170 production for 1954 was 1722. That works out to an average of 144 per month during 1954 but that doesn't wash when you look at your list of serials which shows about 688 units built from Jan thru Apr 54. So obviously production varied somewhat from month to month. _________________ Wes K

got to spend a little bit of time w/ the m170 today...
Thought I would keep adding what I find in the way of history to this thread.
found....
...Yellow lettering on the hood (just bits and pieces, some had weathered away)
... 606279 W 12 D AR CU CR cast into the block on the lower right side.
...MD67555 stamped on the top front of the block. at the end of the stamping there is an oval stamped as well (looks like a zero turned on its side) _________________ Joel

In this particular case since your M170 is only 3 units off from mine I can tell you it was produced in May 1954. |
