If it has the front bumper gussets then it's MB or CJ2A. MB/GPW (WWII) has the machine gun support plate and there's no steering bellcrank on the front crossmember since it was mounted on top of the front axle. The MB/GPW had the frame serial number on the inside of the left front frame rail just nehind the bumper for the MB and on top of the left front frame rail just ahead of the brake master cylinder on the GPW. The early CJ2A had a frame serial tag on the outside of the left front frame rail just behind the bumper. Based on this info can you tell us which frame you have?
I know i dont have the plate for the machine gun i will have the frame next week at home i could see better
What left for the body part or the hood wit the logo willys and he have a grill and have the big round light like my m38 but he dont know if this is original that what he have left and the gaz tank have a small outlet for fuel and i didn't see a protecting gard for the transmission
And no plate for the frame serial number on the inside of the left front frame rail just nehind the bumper
For me that look civil but for free i can't complaint and i dont have a motor for my m38 and now yes hop is the same flat head
The frame has bumper gussets indicating it is a '42-45MB or 45-'48 CJ2A
Is the steering bellcrank pivot welded to the front cross member (CJ2A) or mounted on the front differential housing (MB)?
The transmission was originally a column shift CJ2A style from '45, early '46.
The engine has early WWII venting road-draft tube and no PCV on the intake manifold (I dont know if these were ever used in CJ's) . What is the casting # of the block?
The waterpump has an M38 style bypass hose on the top.
The head 640161 was used on CJ2A, CJ38 and I believe also the M38. An M38 head would have a hole and pipe fitting on the front to mate to the waterpump hose.
Yes the same engine. You would have to ask the folks on the Willys Tech board who have more data available on the Willys Pick-up and Wagons. It will be in the 1947 to 1951 range for the engine.
I have a few carb bases laying around for that WO carb. Do you have any M38 parts to trade? Is there any information stamped on the bottom of that broken carb base?
