Valve guides

Post by Bill_F »

Ok here is the problem. Replacing the vavle guides in my L-head, the machine shop went to put them in and they just fell through. It had some weird mis matched vavle guids in it before. Any ideas or should I be rebuilding the MC block that I have and junking this RMC block?

Bill,

I am not an expert, but have not heard of anyone installing oversized valve guides.

Are you sure the replacements you obtained are the correct ones?

We are going to mic the new ones and Ben (joel) on the g503 site is going to mic a set of NOS ones he has. Worse comes to worse we will pull one out of the other engine I have and seen what happens.

Bill,

Let us know what you find.
Are your replacements repros? I just keep finding that the repro parts are not close. If you need any repro pilot bushings that are too small and also just flop around in the flywheel, let me know.
Hopefully the NOS parts will set you up and you can save both blocks.

Hopefully I will know in a couple of weeks. The Machine shop is closed this week so it is going to take a little time.
