1952 M38 Gas Pedal

The gas pedal connects to the motor via a rubber fitting. The rubber fitting came off, and I can find an adhesive strong enough to hold it. Is this the correct setup? Does anyone know what adhesive to use?

buy a new one from midwest mil or another supplier.

Clean well, wipe with MEK and glue with 3M 1300LL
