I replaced the striped stud hole with a ez lok threaded insert. I was easy after I made a jig to keep the drill square. Tapinh was a breeze. Hope to get her up and running by Saturday.

Squared up a block of oak and drilled out the holes for the studs using a head gasket for a pattern. The oak block was 2 1/2 X 3 X 7 1/2. Drilled out on a drill press. Drilled out the oversized hole on the press too. Filled the old hole with bread, and packed it with grease. Covered the block with Duct Tape to seal it off. Put the oak block over the good studs, snugged the jig down over 1/4 inch spacers to clear the valves. Greased up the bit and let her rip. Used the tap through the same jig, right into the block. After the tap was started, backed it out, removed the jig and finished the tapping. Purchased everything at Grainger. The EZ LOC inserts were 4 for $5.00. Most expensive bit and tap I ever bought. It cut the block like butter, no chipping and the grease caught the shavings. It was worth it. Remember, colbalt bits are sharp, don't grease up the bit with out gloves on. I did not use gloves and did a number on my finger tips.
